Team Hoyt confirm appearance at 2014 Boston Marathon

The inspirational racing duo known as Team Hoyt have confirmed that they will be running in the 2014 Boston Marathon following the devastation that was wrought by two explosions at this year's event.

72-year-old runner Dick Hoyt was pushing his disabled son Rick, 51, around the gruelling Boston route in a specially converted wheelchair for the 31st time on April 15th – their 1,091st race overall - when the bombs went off at the finish line, about a mile in front of where they were at the time.

The team had stated that this instalment of the marathon would be the last they were going to compete in but, after they were unable to finish the 2013 course, the pair decided to reverse this decision, much to the delight of their many fans.

Surely one of the most extraordinary families to have ever used mobility cars, Team Hoyt have been amazing people around the world for decades, and show no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
