New pavement art exhibition from wheelchair artist

A disabled artist who rose to prominence last year after her groundbreaking underwater exhibition, Creating the Spectacle, was chosen to form part of the Cultural Olympiad for London 2012 is making headlines again, this time for a project she has launched in the Wiltshire city of Salisbury.

Sue Austin, from North Devon, has received special permission from local authorities to use her wheelchair to leave an eye-catching, winding trail of pavement paint starting at the Blue Boar Row area of the city and leading to the Salisbury Arts Centre, which is the location of the People Like You exhibition that will display pieces by two other artists with disabilities until Sunday 14th April.

Austin has already been an inspiration for many users of wheelchair accessible vehicles who have witnessed her pioneering artistic talents, and it is hoped that her latest work will lead even more people to reassess how they view the abilities and passions of the disabled community.
