Local council to take over Wishaw Remploy factory

Local council to take over Wishaw Remploy factory

The leader of North Lanarkshire Council in Scotland has announced that his local authority is set to take over the leasehold of the recently closed Remploy factory in the town of Wishaw, in the hope that the site will soon once again be able to offer employment to the community's disabled population.

In a statement, Jim McCabe confirmed that the council's Beltane Products will shortly relocate to the currently empty factory, which was one of several to close last year as a result of government cuts. 23 disabled people are currently employed at Beltane, and McCabe believes that this number can be increased to include those who were left without work when operations at Remploy ceased.

Having access to gainful employment, of course, means that people living with disabilities can enjoy aids such as the range of mobility cars for sale around the UK, ensuring that they experience a good quality of life.
