Gold Heart Appeal gifts disabled boy a life changing wheelchair
The mother of a severely disabled boy who has received a life-changing wheelchair from the children's charity Variety has called on more people to support their Gold Heart Appeal.
Maura McCrystal, whose four-year-old boy Jack suffers from a serious neuromuscular disorder, is now able to enjoy moving freely around his home for the first time, which she says has provided him with 'the independence he craved'.
The Gold Heart Appeal allows members of the public to buy specially designed pieces of jewellery from a number of outlets, including cinemas, with all profits made going towards achieving Variety's goal of supporting disabled children and their families with practical help.
Whilst new and used wheelchair cars can give those with mobility issues the chance to travel for long distances in comfort, Mrs McCrystal has been keen to point out how even more basic rights can be met by organisations such as Variety, commenting that 'charities really can change lives'.
