Dorking wheelchair user to travel 3,000 miles across America

A disabled man from Dorking is set to embark on a 3,000 mile drive across America, in the hope to show young wheelchair users how to be as active as possible.

Gary was born with sacral agenesis, a condition which affects just one in 25,000 people and affects the sacrum bone in the lower back – making walking almost impossible. However his affliction certainly hasn't dampened Gary's spirits, who is aiming to travel from Bangor, Maine, across America to Los Angeles over a space of five weeks, a task for which he is sure to rely on wheelchair accessible vehicles for him to complete.

He will be hosting a series of inspirational workshops during his time across the pond, sharing his experiences while working as a Games Maker for the London 2012 Olympic Games and aiming to showing other wheelchair users that there are endless hobbies and interests they can achieve dispite their afflictions.
