Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles From Brotherwood®
The UK's Premier WAV Manufacturer
Brotherwood® have been manufacturing Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles since 1985. Our attention to detail, customer care and commitment to quality mean our ‘WAVs’ carry an excellent reputation across the world. Brotherwood® are regarded as the pioneers of the modern ‘Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle’, changing the perception of disabled transport from conspicuous high-roof vans to discreet everyday passenger cars.
Our accessible cars enable wheelchair passengers to travel in comfort, inclusively and safely; sitting closely with the other passengers within the vehicle, with a comfortable ride and good view out of the car. Our discrete adaptations, although wheelchair-friendly, blend seamlessly with other cars on the road. View our new wheelchair accessible vehicles for sale, or browse our selection of approved used mobility cars. Brotherwood wheelchair passenger cars are also available via Motability, or short or long term hire with variable rental periods.
The Brotherwood® Difference - Engineering to Enable
Explore the unique benefits of a Brotherwood® Wheelchair Accessible Car:
We place emphasis on wheelchair passenger comfort, ensuring that the wheelchair travels in the centre of the vehicle, on a level floor. Sitting centrally within the car creates a smoother ride, with a naturally ergonomic seating position.
The lowered floor and central wheelchair position enables wheelchair users to travel inclusively with family and friends. Up front next to the driver, or between the passenger seats, wheelchair users travel as part of the group.
Each WAV we manufacture is also tested to the highest standards for wheelchair passenger safety, ensuring peace of mind. Even wheelchairs up to 190kg can travel safely. Accreditations include European Type Approval and PAS-2012.

- Ex-Serviceman Sets Hill Climb Record in Brotherwood Wheelchair Accessible Nissan
Amid all of the noise and smoke at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed, a very different type of course record was set, as Lionel O’Connor became both the first, and the fastest person ever to complete the famous hillclimb in a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
In 2006 Private O’Connor was serving with the Royal Anglians in Iraq when his vehicle was caught in a huge explosion, killing two of his colleagues. Lionel was severely injured, losing his left leg as a result. At the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lionel made history to become the very first wheelchair user in the 23 years of the event to complete the iconic hill climb course as a passenger aboard a wheelchair accessible Brotherwood vehicle, piloted by Goodwood regular and former Nissan BTCC racing driver Andy Middlehurst.Read More

- Go Green With Envy: The UK’s First Electric Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle From Brotherwood®
In 1985 Brotherwood Automobility revolutionized transport for disabled people across the UK, by re-engineering Nissan Prairie to carry a wheelchair seated passenger, whilst blending seamlessly with the other cars on the road - unlike the ‘Pope-mobile’ style conversions prevalent at the time. In turn Brotherwood pioneered a new method of wheelchair accessible vehicle manufacture which has often since been imitated, but never bettered.
30 years later the Dorset-based company has set yet another first for wheelchair passenger transport, teaming with Nissan again with the launch of the Brotherwood Envy: The UK’s first Fully Electric Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, based on the Nissan eNV-200 Combi. The Brotherwood Envy marks yet another milestone for the pioneering company which was also the first to create a wheelchair passenger ‘up-front’ Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), and also the first to achieve Low Volume Type Approval for a wheelchair car conversion.Read More

All our experiences with Brotherwood have been happy experiences with a sure knowledge that we will receive excellent, personal attention and a "family" feel about the company. Brotherwood conversions are the most user-friendly available.
The service from Brotherwood was fast, friendly and efficient, both on the phone and in person. They had a very strong sense of the importance of my needs, which was very reassuring.
Would never want to go anywhere else. For reliability, comfort and safety they can't be beaten.
Excellent company to deal with - total professionalism and conversion to vehicle A1 cannot fault in any way. Would have no hesitation in recommending Brotherwood to anyone.
